About the Event
This Saturday at Takoma Station, it's saxophonist Antoine Roney and his son, drummer Kojo Roney, presented by Marc Cary, who will be on keyboards along with Obasi Akoto on bass. Antoine performed and recorded extensively with his brother, the late trumpeter Wallace Roney, He attended DC's own Duke Ellington School for the Arts and has performed with many top players in the jazz world, including Clifford Jordan, Donald Byrd, Rashied Ali, Arthur Taylor, Freddie Hubbard, Jacky Terrasson, Louis Hayes, Nasheet Waits, Ricky Ford and Elvin Jones.
Kojo Roney is a rising star on drums, having performed with his uncle, Wallace Roney, as well as Buster Williams, Ron Carter, Chick Corea, Hamiet Bluiett, Gary Bartz, Horald Mayburn, and Brandee Younger, among others.
