Corcoran Holt, a native of Washington, D.C., began studying bass at age 10. He graduated from the Duke Ellington School for the Arts in 2000 and went on to earn a Bachelor degree in jazz studies from the Shenandoah Conservatory and a Masters in jazz studies from Queens College in New York City.

Corcoran is the regular bassist with saxophone master Kenny Garrett and has also performed with Jimmy Heath, Benny Golson, David Murray, Tim Warfield, Nicholas Payton, Roy Hargrove, Randy Brecker, Jeremy Pelt, Russell Malone, Mulgrew Miller, Larry Willis, Jimmy Cobb, Winard Harper, Stever Turre and Slide Hampton, to name but a fraction of the top jazz artists.

Corcoran returned to DC from New York in 2021 and we are excited to welcome him to the Takoma Station stage for one of his first performances with his full quintet.
