About the Event
Master saxophonist Dayne Stephens, presented by Marc Cary
“Dayna Stephens can cry and rip it up on tenor, but at heart, he’s a streamlined melodic player. His handsome down-the-middle tone is not too heavy or light, though he can lean either way. His sound is sleek, with very light vibrato. And the lines he improvises are uncluttered and well-organized. His horn sings” - NPR
Dayna has performed or recorded with a huge slice of the top jazz players, including Kenny Barron, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Brad Mehldau, Roy Hargrove, Terrence Blanchard, Linda May Han Oh, John Scofield, Peter Bernstein, Chris Potter, Aaron Parks, Fred Hersch, Rufus Reid, Cecile McLorin Salvant, Julian Lage, Jaleel Shaw, and many, many more.
