This 23-year old trumpet player is the real deal. You don't want to miss this one. Originally from Nassau, Bahamas, Giveton Gelin began playing trumpet at age 10. He went on to study with Eddie Henderson at the Oberlin Conservatory and then graduaged from the Juilliard School in 2021. In the span of four years, Giveton has played with some of the leaders of the NY jazz scene, including Curtis Lundy, Bobby Watson, Roy Hargrove, Sullivan Fortner, Wynton Marsalis, Ben Wolfe, and Jon Batiste. Additionally, he has received tutelage from some of the world’s greatest players, including Wynton Marsalis, Nicholas Payton and Ralph Peterson.  He is the protege of the late Roy Hargrove, to whom Giveton is often compared.

The band will consist of Kweku Sumbry on drums, Giveton Gelin on trumpet, Allyn Johnson on keyboard and Jeremiah Edwards on bass.
