In 1976 when Muneer Nasser was a young boy, his father took him to see Dizzy Gillespie at the Village Gate. According to Muneer, Dizzy blew the place apart and Muneer decided he had to get a trumpet. Weeks later, he did. After years of private instruction and formal education, Muneer became an in-demand sideman, headliner and an integral participant in the DC jazz scene. He has performed at the Lincoln Theater, Bohemian Caverns, Westminster Church, Takoma Station, Cafe Nema, The Kennedy Center, and Twins Jazz, as well as touring Europe and the Middle East.

This Saturday, we welcome Muneer back to Takoma Station with Elijah Easton on sax, Darius Scott on piano, Grant Le on bass and Julian Berkowitz on drums.
